sen·ior·i·tis
?ˌsēnyəˈrīdəs/
noun humorous
a supposed affliction of students in their final year of high school or college, characterized by a decline in motivation or performance.
"I try not to let my grades suffer from my senioritis"
The urban dictionary defines senioritis as “A crippling disease that strikes high school seniors. Symptoms include: laziness, an over-excessive wearing of track pants, old athletic shirts, sweatpants, athletic shorts, and sweatshirts. Also features a lack of studying, repeated absences, and a generally dismissive attitude. The only known cure is a phenomenon known as graduation.”just by the definition alone you can tell we students feel that this may be a very humorous thing or something to laugh at. But Senioritis is very much a serious thing

Adrian Saliva is a high school senior who has given up on uniform completely and comes to school everyday in the most lazy fit, sweatpants, track jackets and hoodies
Larry another high school senior plugs in his music and sleeps in class even during lessons
Another high school senior who i was lucky to see to get a picture of, because its his last year and he barely comes to school because he thinks its nothing else to do as a senior.
All students should know that senioritis isn't something we should succumb too if u already have then you should try your hardest to escape its grasp. I a senior speaking from personal experience with this know its a bad thing and i could give u a list of reasons why:
- Colleges notice.
- It can affect acceptances.
- It can affect financial aid.
- It creates a bad habit of giving little to no effort which is not the mindset you want to enter college with
Now, I personally have struggled with the lack of motivation in these last few months but I have found ways to overcome it:
- Remembering that u have less than 6 months of school left helps. If u think about as that you put in work for three years why would u want to give up now
- Sleep, just being well rested will have you more willing to put in an effort in class
- Keep in mind these often-overlooked possibilities. Colleges may look at your grades in your senior year and based on your grades they'll determine whether or not to take your scholarship money away.
Consider your parents, they are the main ones funding you for college at least show them so gratitude and do your best in school!
This’s so true even me as a senior feel like that some days and do the same exact things because honestly being a senior get tiring.. this’s a really good article it really shows how students are their last year of high school.
