DREAMERS FIGHTS FOR WHAT’S RIGHT
by:Carlos Shamburger
Earlier this month president Donald Trump and his administration team has planned to get rid of DACA, the program that protects undocumented immigrants who came to the United States as children.
Jeff Sessions said that “DACA is being planned to end in March 2018”. With their plans to terminate this, it is leaving almost millions of immigrants in fear of what will happen to them and their families.
NBC News
DACA is a government program that was created by former president Barack Obama to have kids and family who arrived to US illegally to temporarily have a right to stay, work, and get an education in America. They have to renew every two years and if they don’t , they risk the chance of getting deported. Those immigrants who are under DACA are called Dreamers.
Dreamers are immigrants who are protected under DACA. Just as soon as Trump decided to end the program, almost 800,000 had already been approved. Most of these immigrants have came from Mexico,Guatemala, and some parts of South America. They now reside in California, Texas, New York, and Florida. In order to apply, you would have be to younger than 31 by June 2015 and have migrated here before turning 16 and lived here since 2007.
As everyone knew that Trump was running for president, he has said that he was going to end DACA and build walls to keep immigrants from migrating to America. This also goes along with his plans to keep Muslim out of the US as well. Those “plans” or “orders” still have not been successful.

Due to Trump , the new applicants that have applied will no longer be accepted. With the applicants who are already in the program, their legal status will begin to terminate in March. As of now Trump have given Congress only six months to agree to his plan to find another temporary plan that will only last till March 2020 and dreamers will lose their citizen status.
