As a freshman, you go through new experiences and an entirely different lifestyle once you enter high school. You get introduced to a new environment and a harder education system. Although it may be challenging, it doesn’t seem to slow down student-athlete Tara Johnson. All of her teachers and coaches are impressed with her academic and athletic capability.

We caught up with the super busy Freshman Tara Johnson, to ask her how it feels to be the at the top of her freshman class. Funny thing is --she had no clue. Her reaction was priceless. She was surprised and excited and slightly confused. She honestly did not know about this huge accomplishment. We asked her a few questions to capture exactly how she was feeling.

“How does being the #1 student in the class make you feel?” and she stated, “It makes me feel like I have accomplished something in life.” She paused then went on later to say jokingly, “I feel like I am better than everybody else.” It’s a joke of course, but we know what she means. That’s a big deal.

Then we asked her how she maintains the highest grade in the class while being involved in sports and the normal teenage lifestyle?” To which she replies, “I pay attention and ask a lot of questions to have a better understanding of the topic and teenage lifestyle wise, I keep myself away from all the negativity and animosity.”

It is evident that Tara is a very educated and motivated person. She drives to become the best and once she does, she wants more than that. Tara is a very strong, independent person and we hope she continues to succeed in the most amazing way here at University High School.

**Update** Tara is in the running to be top Freshman Girls' Basketball player in the state of NJ click here to vote for Tara Johnson.

Good Luck Tara!
